Attention nannies: while you’re outside with your charges this spring and summer enjoying the warm weather, playground buffoonery, and the ever-increasing din of ice cream truck music, make sure to keep your eyes open for a tricked-out bright orange van that’s just for us nannies!

Remember that time you asked for a sick day and were denied? Or the many times when you worked over 45 hours in a week but did not receive time-and-a-half-pay? Have you ever had a question about the legalities your job duties, but didn’t know who to ask?

Marisa Jahn, artist and founder of REV, a nonprofit organization created with the aim to support low income workers, immigrants, women, and youth, has collaborated with the National Domestic Workers Alliance and created NannyVan.

“Public policies supporting working families . . . have not caught up to reflect the invaluable labor that working women provide,” Jahn said. “NannyVan seeks to raise the visibility about what’s going on around the country, the issues domestic workers like nannies face, and provide pathways and guidance.”

You may be wondering how a bright orange NannyVan could affect domestic workers. Stay tuned for the full-length article where you get to meetthis multifaceted and multimedia nanny resource more up close and personal.
